Our motto

An extended support group for heart patients, families and caregivers. Available when you need us. Available to talk to heart disease patients about what they are going through. A network of people who have heart disease. Families or caregivers of heart patients, who are available to talk to your family members going through the same experience.
Available in 260 cities across the U.S. and in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. An organization whose members are grateful to be alive and eager to help others.
Mended Hearts is a support organization composed of a special group of people: heart patients, spouses, health professionals and other interested persons. We are particularly interested in helping people deal with the emotional recovery from heart disease.
The Mended Hearts, Inc. is proud to be affiliated with the American Heart Association. Both organizations support each others goals and objectives and are committed to helping heart disease patients and families/caregivers.

Mended Hearts, Chapter 63, meets monthly on the third Monday of the month in Conference Room 108, Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Even if you are not a member, you are welcome to come to our meetings. Each meeting features a speaker on some aspect of cardiac health or health in general, followed by refreshments.

HOSPITAL VOLUNTEER PROGRAM In keeping with directives from Mended Hearts national office, all MH accredited visitors must be authorized as hospital volunteers. All that is required is that one must attend a three hour orientation class given monthly, take a TB test, and have your photo taken for the hospital identification badge. January Meeting: Monday, Jan. 19, 7:30 PM in Conference Room 108 (first floor, Norfolk General). Guest speaker is from YMCA and will discuss heart healthy programs at the Y. Refreshments.

Membership is open to all heart disease patients, their families, and other interested persons. Dues: $22 (first year), $17 (renewal). Dues include a subscription to national magazine, Heartbeat, and our monthly newsletter, The Heart Warmer. |
